Punch Art Easter Critters!

Hi Stampers!  I'm so excited to share these adorable Punch Art Easter Critters with you today!  They are so stinkin' cute and easy to make.  The punch art chick and punch art bunny were inspired by Ruth's Stamping Corner and the punch art frog was taken from Heather Summer's Blog.  It's been a long time since I've used the Sweet Treat Cups and I have forgotten how much fun they are to use when paper crafting!  It makes a special treat for gift giving!

Punch Art Easter Critters Recipe

Punch Art Chick & Bunny are created with the same two circles. The secret is the Big Shot Circles #2 Die. Use the two larger circles--one for the body and the other for the head.

Punch Art Chick:

Card Stock:  Daffodil Delight, Pumpkin Pie

Punches:  3/4" square (folded in half to form beak), 2 Large Ovals (wings), 2 Boho Blossoms (head feather and feet), 1 3/4" Circle (sweet treat cup)

Punch Art Bunny:

Ink:  Crumb Cake, Stampin' Write Marker--Crumb Cake

Card Stock:  Whisper White, Pretty in Pink

Punches:  2 Small Ovals (inside ear), 1 Small Oval (cut in half, front paws), 4 Large Ovals (ears and feet), 1 Heart to Heart (nose), 2 Heart Smalls (bottom of feet), 6--1/4" circles (bottom of feet), 1 3/4" Circle (sweet treat cup)

Punch Art Frog:

Ink:  Basic Black, White Gel Pen

Card Stock:  Wild Wasabi, Whisper White, Basic Black

Punches:  Big Shot Circles #2 (large circle for body), Wide Oval (head), 1" Circle (Wild Wasabi--eyes), 3/4" Circle (Whisper White--eyes), 1/2" Circle (Basic Black with White Gel Pen accents--eyes), 2 Large Ovals (legs), 2 Boho Blossoms (feet), 1 3/4" Circle (sweet treat cup)

Another Springtime Vintage Quilted Card

Hi Stampers!  I hope all of you had a wonderful weekend.  In today's post, you'll find a tutorial on how to make the quilted card in last Thursday's post.  I have changed the card stock and designer paper colors and given this quilted card a different look.

 Quilted Card Recipe

Use the 3/4" Square Punch to prepare your quilted pieces.  You'll need 2 different Springtime Vintage papers, and 3 coordinating card stock colors.  I used Very Vanilla, Rose Red, and Pear Pizzazz card stock.

You will need to punch 8 (3/4") squares in each designer paper and card stock which will give you 5 different groups.  As you can see from the picture below, you'll diagonally cut 7 squares in two of the groups (one designer paper and one card stock).

Using a 2-way glue stick (#100425), apply glue to the first square and adhere to  Stampin' Up!'s Grid Paper (#102787).

You can see the pattern that is beginning to form.

Here is the completed pattern of the card.  I used my paper cutter to trim around the square.

Insert the finished square into the Square Lattice Embossing Folder (#119976) and roll it through the Big Shot.

This is what it looks like "quilted"!

The base of the card measures:  4 1/2" x 9".  Using the Vintage Wallpaper Embossing Folder (#120175), insert the top of the card in the folder and roll through the Big Shot.  

Measurements for Pear Pizzazz (3 7/8"x 3 7/8") and Rose Red (4"x4") layers.  Adhere these two layers under the quilted square.

I added the Pear Pizzazz 1/2" Seam Binding (#122330) between the top part of the card and the base.

The finished card embellished with Pear Pizzazz (#122330), Rose Red (#121884), and Very Vanilla (#120999) 1/2" Seam Binding and

Vanilla Rosettes (#118774).

A Computer Glitch

Hi Stampers!  I'm sorry I don't have a post for you this morning.  I downloaded some new programs to my computer which in turn, caused my computer to become very SLOW--slower than a snail!  I had trouble yesterday just getting my email!  My computer is running a bit smoother this morning, so I will post on Monday with a quilted card tutorial as promised.  It may even be my first video. :)

Springtime Vintage Card Recipe

Stamp Sets:  Strength & Hope (available May 1st), You're a Gem (wood mount #122268, clear mount #122270)

Ink:  Night of Navy, Crumb Cake, Stampin' Write Markers--Night of Navy, Baja Breeze

Paper:  Very Vanilla, Baja Breeze, Night of Navy, Springtime Vintage Designer Series Paper (#121782)

Embellishments:  Chantilly 1/2" Crochet Trim (#118480), Vintage Trinkets (#118764), Antique Brads (#117273), Baja Breeze 1/2" Seam Binding Ribbon (#122331)

Adhesives:  SNAIL, Stampin' Dimensionals, Mini Glue Dots, 2-Way Glue Stick

Punches:  1 1/4" Circle, 1 3/8" Circle, Designer Label, 1/16" Circle Handheld, 3/4" Square

Big Shot:  Vintage Wallpaper Embossing Folder (#120175), Square Lattice Embossing Folder (#119976)

Tips & Tidbits

• You will need to choose 5 different colors of card stock/designer paper. I used Very Vanilla, Baja Breeze, Night of Navy and Springtime Vintage DP.
• All squares are 3/4".  Punch out 8 of each color.  You will have a few squares left in each color group.
• Glue each square or triangle to Stampin' Up!'s Grid Paper (#102787).  This is great for lining up each square.  You can follow the same pattern that I used.

I'll share a tutorial with you tomorrow on how to create this card.  In the meantime, choose your card stock and designer paper and cut your 3/4" squares, so you can follow along with the tutorial.

An Update:  I plan to purchase a tripod today for my new Sony Bloggie video camera.  I'm one step further to bringing you video tutorials!  My Dear Readers, please let me know what kinds of videos you would like to see.  What are you interested in learning? I've been working on a few things regarding my blog lately.  I'm still making minor adjustments to the appearance of my blog.  Mainly, the side bars, so hopefully, these changes will be evident soon. 

My other blog project entails bringing you video stamping tutorials.  I just finished a class on the various steps of incorporating video into my blog posts and I hope to share my very first video with you soon.  I finally bit the bullet and purchased a new video camera that should make this job easier!  I still have much to learn, so wish me luck and be looking for my first video soon.  I'm actually really excited about it!

Springtime Vintage Quilted Card

Hi Stampers!  Here's another quilted card using the Springtime Vintage Designer Series Paper from the Occasions Mini.  I also used the Four Frames Stamp Set that will be available during the month of April only; then, you'll see it again in the new catalog on July 1st.  The sentiment, "From the Heart" is from the Watercolor Trio Stamp Set. Unfortunately, it is not available anymore.  It was in last year's Occasions Mini. No worries, lots of different sentiments will fit in this label.

Springtime Vintage Card Recipe

Stamp Sets:  Four Frames (wood mount #123440, clear mount #123442), Watercolor Trio

Ink:  Night of Navy, Black Stazon, Baja Breeze, Crumb Cake, 

Paper:  Night of Navy, Baja Breeze, Pear Pizzazz, Very Vanilla, Springtime Vintage Designer Series Paper (#121782)

Embellishments:  1/2" Baja Breeze Seam Binding (#122331), Antique Brads (#117273), Basic Pearls (#119247)

Adhesives:  SNAIL, Mini Glue Dots

Punches:  Decorative Label (#120907), 1 1/4" Square

Big Shot:  Square Lattice Embossing Folder (#119976), Framed Tulips Embossing Folder (#121809)

Tip & Tidbits

• Cut a piece of Very Vanilla card stock at 3 3/4" x 2 1/2".  Punch 6 squares with the 1 1/4" Square punch.
• Adhere the squares to the Very Vanilla card stock.
• Place in the Square Lattice Embossing Folder and roll through the Big Shot.
• Pear Pizzazz Measurements:  3 7/8" x 2 5/8".
• Night of Navy Measurements: 4" x 2 3/4".
• Coloring the Bird:  Ink the stamp with Black Stazon ink (#101406) and stamp the image. Squeeze the middle of the Baja Breeze ink pad and pick up the color using a Blender Pen (#102845) to color the bird.  Repeat the process with Crumb Cake ink to color the ground under the bird.
• Antique Brad:  I wrapped it around the Baja Breeze Seam Binding and tucked a couple of glue dots under the brad for good measure!

Springtime Vintage

Hi Stampers!  The weather here in central Virginia continues to inspire me to create spring cards! With spring just around the corner, I had to pull out my package of Springtime Vintage Designer Series Paper! This paper ensemble is located in the Occasions Mini on page 15. It's gorgeous and the floral prints remind me of quilting fabric.  There have been a lot of quilted cards online lately, so I decided to give it a try.

Top Note Card Recipe

Stamp Sets:  Easter Blossoms (wood mount #121905, clear mount #122057), You're a Gem (wood mount #122268, clear mount #122270)

Ink:  Rose Red, Pear Pizzazz

Paper:  Pear Pizzazz, Rose Red, Baja Breeze, Very Vanilla, Springtime Vintage Designer Series Paper (#121782)

Embellishments:  Certainly Celery 3/8" Taffeta Ribbon (#119963), Basic Pearls (#119247), Trinket Keys (#121892), Linen Thread (#104199)

Adhesives:  SNAIL, Stampin' Dimensionals

Punches:  1 1/4" Square (#119865), Large Oval (#119855), Scallop Oval (#119856)

Big Shot:  Top Note die (#113463), Framed Tulips Embossing Folder (#121809), Square Lattice Embossing Folder (#119976)

Tips & Tidbits

• Using the 1 1/4" square punch, Punch 12 squares (some from each designer sheet) from the Springtime Vintage Designer Series Paper.
• Cut a Very Vanilla sheet of card stock at 4" x 5 1/4".
• Alternate and adhere squares to the Very Vanilla card stock until it is covered.  Note: Use squares of each paper pattern to make it interesting.  Basically, you're laying out "quilt pieces". As shown in the card above, you'll adhere the squares adjacent to each other going across and down until you cover the Very Vanilla card stock.
• Place card stock on top of the Top Note die, and roll through the Big Shot.  Now, your pattern looks like a pieced quilt.
• Place the top note pattern in the Square Lattice Embossing Folder and roll through the Big Shot.  It now looks quilted!
