Watercolor Wings Card-Hostess Club Project #2

Here's the second Hostess Club Project for the month!  We'll be using two stamp sets...Watercolor Wings and Butterfly Basics.  Both of these stamp sets have coordinating framelits; and the framelits work with both stamp sets!  Check out the Brick Embossing Folder.  It's the first time that I've used it!

Butterfly Basics Convention Swap

During convention, we always have a team dinner at a local restaurant and swap cards. These cards are "kicked-up" a notch and over the top gorgeous.  They're always extraordinary and it's fun to see which stamp sets each team member selects.

I decided to use the Butterfly Basics Stamp Set for my dinner swap.  For some reason, I've been hooked on this stamp set all summer!  I've included a supply list below, but want to give you a few quick tips on how I created it.

🐝The Very Vanilla Cardstock serves as the background layer (underneath the Vellum).  Several ferns (3 to 4) are inked in Mossy Meadow and the "honeycomb" image is inked in Crumb Cake and stamped 3 times from top to bottom.

🐝Use Black Stazon Ink to stamp on the Vellum Cardstock.  Then...flip over the vellum and use Stampin' Write Markers--Calypso Coral and Wild Wasabi--to color the flower and leaves.

🐝Adhesives:  I used 4 Mini Glue Dots (one in each corner) to attach the Vellum to the Very Vanilla Cardstock; Snail adhesive to attach the Sahara Sand Ribbon; and Mini Glue Dots to attach the gold foil butterfly, greeting, and Gold Metallic Baker's Twine.

Watercolor Wings Convention Swap

By the time you read this post, I will be well on my way to Salt Lake City, Utah for the annual Stampin' Up! Convention!  I'm happy to have two members in my 1st level downline attending this year.  All together, there will be approximately 14 in our group.

One of my daughters recently asked me "How many swaps does one swap?"  I wisely replied, "As many as one wants!"  I decided to use the Watercolor Wings Stamp Set along with the coordinating Bold Butterfly Framelits Dies (Bundle and Save 15%, Available photopolymer only).  It also coordinates with the Butterflies Thinlits Dies (Introduced in the 2015 Ocassions Catalog).  Take a closer look at the Blackberry Bliss layer...It's embossed using the Fluttering Embossing Folder (#139304).

🐝Here's one hint regarding the Watercolor Wings...You'll use the two-step stamping technique.  I inked the solid image of the butterfly in Rich Razzleberry and the outer edges of the butterfly in Blackberry Bliss ink.  All of these amazing products are featured in the 2015-16 annual catalog.  Be sure to look below at the supply list for a full listing of products used to create this swap.

Hostess Club Project--Irresistibly Yours Designer Paper

Our first Hostess Club Project this month includes the Butterfly Basics Stamp Set, Butterflies Thinlits Dies, and the Sale-A-Bration Product Irresistibly Yours Designer Series Paper (FREE #138635).

Club members will learn a variety of coloring techniques...sponging, spritzing, and coloring with Blendabilities...to use on this super cool versatile paper.  In the card below, Pear Pizzazz ink is sponged on the white glossy patterned paper.  The pattern is revealed when adding ink.  I also used a different patterned paper to cut out the butterfly and then sponged it with two different ink colors--Calypso Coral and Crushed Curry.  The white shown in the butterfly is the pattern from the Irresistibly Yours Designer Paper!
